 Not only does the San Luis Valley offer the "big four" for livestock competition, the fair also a offers: Dairy Cattle, Dairy Goats, Fiber Goat Exhibition, Goat Milking Competition, Poultry and Rabbit shows. Check out the schedule below to catch these kids and their projects in action! 

 
Important Dates/Times:
Dairy Goat Check-In: August 2, 2026; 1-2 pm

Dairy Goat Show: August 2, 2026; 2:00 pm

Milking Competition & Fiber Exhibition: to follow immediately after the Dairy Goat Show

Breeding Stock Out by: August 2, 2026; 9pm

Poultry Check-In: August 2, 2026; 4-6pm

Poultry Showmanship: August 3, 2026; 9am

Poultry Show: August 3, 2026; 1pm

Poultry Check-Out: August 4, 2025; 4pm


Rabbit Check in: August 4, 2026; 5pm

Rabbit Show: August 5, 2026; 8 am

Rabbit Showmanship: to follow immediately after the Rabbit Show


All Non-Sale Animals out by: August 6, 2026; 9pm

Dairy Goats: Horns

Dairy goats, over the age of three months, must be dehorned or disbudded before exhibiting. Goats will intact horns will be disqualified and excused from exhibition.

All rabbits need permanent identification, in the form of a tattoo to be eligible to be shown at both County Fair and State Fair. Contact the Rabbit Superintendent for dates or more details on the tattoo process.

Rabbit Age & Weight Limits

Market Rabbits do have a weight limit and must be between 3lbs 8oz to 5lbs 8oz to be shown. Rabbits over 5lb 8oz will be considered overweight and will not be shown. 


All market rabbits must be less than 70 days of age to be eligible to be shown.

All Breeding Poultry: Owned by May 1, 2026

Market Chickens: Hatched after January 1, 2026, owned by June 15, 2026

Market Turkeys: Hatched after January 1, 2026, owned by May 15, 2026
