SLV Fair: Beef

There is not a required minimum gain or maximum weight limit for market beef cattle. You will need your brand inspection to be able to weigh-in. 

There is an age limit for beef cattle. All market beef animals must be less than 24 months old to be eligible to show. 

The ownership deadline for beef animals to be shown at fair is May 1. This applies to both ownership and possession of the animal. Unless you have filed a lease or off-site boarding agreement with the Extension Office, the animal MUST be at your house and under your full care (not a breeder's or fitter's), by May 1. 

You are more than welcome to bring in your own bedding to both County and State Fair. Shavings will be available for purchase at County Fair. See the smiling faces in the Fair Office to arrange purchase. 

For Colorado State Fair, you will need to pre-order bedding when you enter or bring your own. There are no shavings or bedding available for purchase on site at Colorado State Fair. 

It is totally up to you! Both blow and go as well as full fitting is allowed. Please keep in mind that while full fitting is allowed, artificial hair or hair like substance, dye or coloring above the knee is not allowed. Exhibitors are solely responsible for ensuring their own understanding of the rules.
