Come help celebrate all of the hard work of our 4-H Dog Project members. This dog show includes classes in: Obedience, Showmanship, Rally and Agility for all Junior, Intermediate and Senior 4-H Members. All classes and the show will be run and modeled after AKC Rules and Events. Exhibit requirements and scoring guidelines are available upon request at the SLV Area Extension Office during regular hours.
All dog ids must be filed online at 4honline.org or in person at the Extension Office, no later than May 1, 2024 at 4:30 pm. No exceptions are able to made as this date comes from a state level and we are unable to access the database after the deadline.
All dogs to be shown or used in the dog project must be in good health, free from illness or injury. The 4-H member must also file proof of vaccinations at the time of submission of the dog id.
Unlike some of the other animal projects, dog project record books are due before fair! This year, the due date is Monday, July 22, 2024 at 4:30 pm. Record books are scored prior to fair and the scores are used in calculation for the Supreme Award.
To qualify for competition at the Colorado State Fair, exhibitors must achieve at least one qualifying score in each class of exhibition and have submitted an acceptable record book. Qualifying scores are:
Obedience: 170 or higher
Showmanship: 170 or higher
Rally: 70 or higher
To keep the show ring viewable for all spectators and to keep the ring free from unnecessary distractions, no one will be allowed to be within ten feet of the outside perimeter of the show ring. Setup areas will be clearly marked and you may only setup within that area.
